Waylon Hicks is known as a uniquely talented artist and educator within the San Diego music scene. Waylon attended the Conservatory of Music at The University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA where he earned his BA degree in Music. He relocated to San Diego in 2006, and since then has made his home in South Oceanside, CA. He is a regular performer at many of the top local venues in San Diego and surrounding areas. Waylon strives to open ears to something new, different and exciting, with a fresh approach to creating music in the moment. The Waylon Hicks Project is a San Diego, CA based Funk and Jazz group led by the talented Saxophonist, Waylon Hicks. Waylon's sound and approach to music is unique which allows Waylon Hicks Project's brand of sound to be all their own. WHP performs funk based jazz arrangements of a wide variety of tunes. Waylon's goal is to stay true to the many traditions of jazz while including some modern tweaks helping to make his music accessible to crowds of all ages and backgrounds. From his original tunes and jazz standards to even some rock and pop covers, this is jazz performed in a way like you've never heard before!

Duo: Saxophones and Keyboard (Well suited for small, intimate settings in need of background music)
Trio: Saxophones, Keyboard, Drums (Well suited to medium-sized indoor/outdoor settings. Energetic but not overpowering)
